The rules of golf represent a standardized framework governing the sport globally. Managed jointly by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, except for the United States and Mexico, under the United States Golf Association, these rules undergo periodic refinement to ensure relevance and fairness. The latest update, effective since January 1, 2016, reflects efforts to streamline understanding and balance penalties across various scenarios.

Amidst the global golf community, Italy’s Federgolf plays a pivotal role in upholding these regulations. Charged with overseeing competitions and ensuring adherence at all levels, Federgolf also serves as a guardian of fair play, administering sports justice where necessary. Through its vigilance, Federgolf not only maintains the integrity of the game domestically but also champions the interests of Italian golfers on the international stage.
