Kenny Omega Talks Producing For AEW, Calling A Match On The Fly, Attempting A Phoenix Splash In Moxley Match

on

AEW superstar Kenny Omega recently interviewed with The Wrestling Observer where The Cleaner discusses details about his position as a VP and producer, recalls a moment he regrets in the Jon Moxley unsanctioned match, and reveals a tag match that was called on the fly on an episode of Dynamite. Details are below.

Time management and a focus on producing matches:

I suppose with AEW going week to week with television it’s, the lesson that you have to learn and the lesson that I’m learning week by week is, or trying to anyway, is time management. I’m producing everywhere from four to five segments every episode on television and I always prioritize my own stuff last so it’s always going to get down to the 11th hour.

Calling a Dynamite tag match on the fly:

I can recall a match three weeks ago… three weeks ago? It was a tag match. It was myself and Hangman Page against Sammy Guevara and Chris Jericho. If it wasn’t for me having trust in Hangman and you know, Chris just being who he is. You know, we pretty much just went out there at least in my section anyway of the match. It was all just working on the fly and make sure we hit our times, that’s it.

Attempting a Phoenix Splash in the Jon Moxley unsanctioned match:

It was one of the worst bumps I’ve ever taken in my life. I’m telling you, a lot of people, said that ‘Whatever…the ring is got a spring in it. It’s no different than bumping on the mat itself.’ No, it was terrible! I think when the mat folded over…that’s where my hands were…So I couldn’t quite get my hands to brace my fall…pretty much…my face came and broke all of it.
