When Julian Draxler landed in Lisbon last summer, it was, for many, a golden opportunity to relaunch. Under the orders of his compatriot Roger Schmidt, the former Schalke however saw a rather complicated Lisbon adventure. Not helped by the physical glitches, he only played 497 minutes spread over 12 games in his new colors only.
A situation that makes people talk in the south-west of Europe. “Each Draxler game costs half a million euros”explained for example Ojogo just a few days ago, when the Eagles spent 2.5 million euros on the loan of the Parisian. In addition to two million euros net salary, Benfica and PSG dividing the player’s emoluments.

This Tuesday, Ojogo explains that the leaders of Benfica have made a decision with the player: they have no intention of keeping him. Already considered a flop in Portugal, Draxler will therefore not be the subject of an offer from his current club, which also has no purchase option in the deal signed with PSG a few months ago.
Suffice to say that in a few months, PSG will still have to find a base for Draxler. The German international’s contract expires in 2024 and if few people were interested last summer, there may be even fewer suitors after this failed season at Benfica…
