New Additions

  • DL Arik Armstead (via multiple reports) In one of the biggest signings of the offseason, the Jaguars have come to terms with the former San Francisco 49ers DL. A massive signing, literally and figuratively. The initially reported contract reflected a 3-year deal for 51 million dollars. However, the final contract numbers were more team-friendly than initially reported, at 3 years, $43.5 million, with $28 million fully guaranteed. With this and Brandon Scherff’s contracts, it seems the Jaguars are full steam ahead in the dead cap and void years game moving forward.

  • WR Gabriel Davis (via Ian Rapoport) Jaguars come to terms on a three-year deal with the former Buffalo Bills (and UCF) wide receiver. The deal is reportedly worth $39 million, with $24 million guaranteed, and the potential for the contract to reach $50 million with incentives.
  • C Mitch Morse (via Mike Garafolo) After visiting Jacksonville before the start of free agency, the former Buffalo Bills center signs with the Jaguars on a two-year contract worth $10.5 million with $7 million guaranteed.

  • CB Ronald Darby (via Jordan Schultz) Jaguars come to terms on a two-year deal with the former Baltimore Ravens cornerback. The two-year deal is reportedly worth a maximum of $10 million with incentives, with an $8.5 million base salary, and $5.5 million guaranteed.
  • S Darnell Savage (via Ian Rapoport) Jaguars come to terms on a three-year deal with the former Green Bay Packers safety. The deal is reportedly worth $21 million with $12.5 million guaranteed.
  • QB Mac Jones (via Adam Schefter) Jaguars trade a 6th-round pick for former New England Patriots passer Michael McCorkle (Mac) Jones.
  • WR Devin Duvernay (via Ian Rapoport) Jaguars come to terms on a two-year deal with the former Baltimore Ravens receiver (and two-time Pro Bowl returner). The deal is reportedly worth $8.5 million, with the ability to reach $12.5 million with incentives, and $5.7 million guaranteed. He is expected to replace former Jaguars free agent Jamal Agnew.
  • OLB/Edge Trevis Gipson (via the Jaguars) The team has announced they have signed Gipson. Jaguars fans may recognize this name, as many fans had an interest in either trading for the former Chicago Bears edge in 2022 or signing him in 2023 before his signing with the Tennessee Titans. Gipson provides quality depth as a rotational edge or defensive lineman. The contract terms are not yet known.
  • TE/FB Josiah Deguara (via Jordan Schultz) The team has reportedly signed Deguara to a one-year contract. In addition to his special teams value, Josiah provides quality depth or competition for Brendon Strange at the H-Back/FB/move-TE role. The full contract terms are not yet known.
  • K Joey Slye (via the Jaguars) The team has announced they have signed the former Washington Commanders kicker to a one-year deal for $1.29 million, with $25 thousand guaranteed after missing out on Wil Lutz in week one of free agency. With Brandon McManus heading to Washington, Slye heads to Jacksonville. Kicker swap! With Slye being a slightly inconsistent extra point kicker (88.5%) there will likely be a training camp competition between Slye, the recently re-signed Riley Patterson, and a drafted or UDFA rookie kicker. I compared the kicking stats of each kicker in the 4 post thread below. The remaining contract terms are not yet known.

Returning Players

  • LB Josh Allen (via the Jaguars) The franchise tag places him on the books for just over $24 million in 2024, unless an extension agreement is negotiated before July.
  • S Daniel Thomas (via Ian Rapoport) Signs a two-year extension worth up to $6 million, per Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report.
  • OG Ezra Cleveland (via Ian Rapoport) Signs a three-year extension worth $24 million with 14.2 million guaranteed. Click here for more info on Cleveland.
  • DL Jeremiah Ledbetter (via the Jaguars) Signed a one-year, $1.85 million contract, with 1 million guaranteed.
  • OG Brandon Scherff (via Adam Schefter) Restructured his contract which guarantees his 2024 salary while saving the team $12.4 million on the cap in 2024, per OverTheCap. By adding void years, the team may arguably be pushing the can down the road, by borrowing from the future however.
  • OG Blake Hance (via the Jaguars) Signed a two-year, $3.1 million contract, with $1.25 million guaranteed.
  • RB D’Ernest Johnson (via Adam Schefter) is re-signing with the team on a one-year deal for $1.275 million with $225 thousand guaranteed.
  • LB Caleb Johnson (via the Jaguars) After initially testing the market, the backup linebacker and special teams ace returns to the team on a one-year deal for $1.35 million with $450 thousand guaranteed.

Losses:

  • WR Calvin Ridley (via multiple reports) Calvin Ridley signs with the Tennessee Titans on a 4-year, $92 million contract, with $50 million guaranteed. A great payday for the receiver who will be 30 years old at the start of the 2024 season.

Players Released

Rumored Interest

  • WR Brandon Aiyuk via (multiple reports) Potential trade candidate from the San Francisco 49ers.

While this deal may “seem” to be floundering at the moment, this is something to keep an eye on during draft time, should the top receivers go early. If the team is unable to trade up or get a guy they’re interested in they may be willing to circle back on this trade during the first or second rounds.

The Signing That Wasnt:

  • K Wil Lutz (via Ian Rapoport) Initial reports reflected the Jaguars would be signing the Broncos kicker to replace Brandon McManus, on a 3-year deal. However, in what seems to be becoming an annual legal tampering issue, Lutz seemingly changed his mind and will remain in Denver. The Jaguars are still in need of another kicker to compete with recently re-acquired Riley Patterson.

Important Free Agency Dates

  • Monday, March 11th (noon EST) – The legal tampering period begins.*
  • Wednesday, March 13th (4:00 pm EST) – The 2024 league year, free agency signing period, and trading period all begin.

*During the legal tampering period, clubs can contact and enter into contract negotiations with agents of players (or the players themselves, for those without agents) who are about to become unrestricted free agents on March 13th. However, the negotiated contracts can not become official until the new league year begins on March 13th.

What are your thoughts on the moves so far, Duval?
