The Cowboys lost DT Johnathan Hankins in free agency to the Seattle Seahawks, leaving a hole in their run defense heading into the draft. Despite waiting until the seventh round to address the defensive tackle position, Rogers provides a big body that can be on the field in run-defense situations. He plays with great leverage, is hard to move off the ball, and has strong hands at the point of attack.

This completes a draft class for the Cowboys which heavily addressed their offensive and defensive line, spending five picks at these positions. The Cowboys are hoping to be stronger up front, after losing several starters in free agency. They need to control the trenches and have a better run defense.
