Hill is officially a cornerback.

It would appear the Dax Hill debate is settled.

After a rocky first season as a starting safety in 2023, the Cincinnati Bengals are now working Hill at cornerback in 2024.

Head coach Zac Taylor confirmed the news Saturday following the 2024 NFL Draft.

This helps explain why the Bengals took Ole Miss safety Daijahn Anthony on Day 3, as the safety room looked a little too crowded for him, but that’s not the case now that Hill is a cornerback.

After two seasons of working primarily as a safety, the Bengals feel that Hill will be best suited as a cornerback. He was the team’s first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Michigan, hoping he could be the long-term replacement for Jessie Bates.

Leading into the 2023 draft, some thought Hill could ultimately end up at cornerback in the pros.

“He’s so fast and so athletic that it wouldn’t surprise me if a team tried to make him a full-time cornerback. I think he has that kind of potential,” an NFC scout told NFL.com.

This is a bold move to make after just two seasons of a player’s career, but it’s no secret Hill was a disaster at safety in 2023.

Let’s hope this is for the best.
