FromSoftware has finally lifted the lid on Shadow of the Erdtree, the first, long-awaited expansion for Elden Ring. In February 2022, FromSoftware released Elden Ring, an open-world RPG with hardcore combat elements, to a remarkably popular reception. It thoroughly entertained the ‘Soulsborne’ crowd, but since March 2023, fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the first Shadow of the Erdtree trailer, showcasing what is expected to be a groundbreaking expansion.

For almost a year, Elden Ring fans the world over have sat on the edge of their seats, patiently waiting for any information about the expansion. It’s Finally Coming

In the run-up to the trailer premiering on YouTube, tens of thousands of fans were waiting in the wings. In terms of importance, the first expansion for Elden Ring is expected to rival the likes of Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty, which was effectively a monumental send-off for the phenomenal futuristic RPG. Up until now, we’ve had no idea what Shadow of the Erdtree will look like, but the trailer that was revealed by FromSoftware answers most of the questions we might have had.

In the trailer, we get a good look at the intense challenges presented to the player in this all-new expansion. There’s a fresh story to unravel and more soul-crushing bosses to do battle with – but that’s what Elden Ring fans simply adore.

Shadow of the Erdtree will be released globally on June 21, 2024.
