FaZe Clan Wins First-Ever Championship In Halo Esports

on

From the 2nd to the 4th of June, sixteen of the world’s best Halo teams descended upon Dallas, Texas to do battle. They were invited to compete at DreamHack 2023, and they were fighting to take home the lion’s share of the $125,000 prize pool. It was a monumental event that saw the biggest names in Halo esports take to the stage, and when the dust had settled, it was FaZe Clan that stood victorious, with the organisation clutching the first championship trophy it has ever won in Halo esports.

It was a dominating streak – FaZe Clan produced a 3 – 0 result during the pools and then dominated the likes of Hive, Native, and then SSG twice to ultimately lift the trophy. It was widely believed that OpTic would win the DreamHack tournament, given the team’s recent performance – which includes winning the Year 2 Kickoff Major in Charlotte and winning the HCS World Championship in 2022. However, a hefty loss handed down by Quadrant and two back-to-back defeats from SSG was enough to eject OpTic from the running.

DreamHack Done, Arlington Approaches

It was a remarkable win for FaZe Clan during the DreamHack tournament, and it was the first championship that the organisation has won in the history of Halo esports. There was a close finish during the Kickoff Major at the start of the year, but OpTic Gaming proved to be too relentless a team for FaZe Clan to overcome.

Now, the stage is effectively set for the HCS Arlington Major. Between the 30th of June and the 2nd of July, these great teams will land in Arlington to compete for a $250,000 prize pool. It’s one of the most important events in the Halo Championship Series calendar, and it’s where a hefty amount of points will be earned to bolster teams for the competitive road ahead. Following this event, we’ve got the Fort Worth Major later in the year, and then finally, the Halo World Championship event, which will land in October.

Following a third-place finish at the DreamHack event, OpTic Gaming remains the favourite to win the HCS Arlington Major, but not by much. If you’re interested in Halo esports betting, it’ll pay to keep a close eye on the likes of FaZe Clan and SSG going into the tournament.

If you’re an underdog backer, then consider watching Quadrant in the weeks ahead. This unique esports organisation, owned by Formula One driver, Lando Norris, was able to overcome OpTic Gaming at the DreamHack event and produced a perfect 3 – 0 record in the pools. Since entering the Halo esports scene in 2021, Quadrant has yet to win anything substantial – but that could be set to change in the near future.
