Ex-Roger Federer coach gave wise advice to Rome board: “Build the roof”

on

The absence of a roof at the courts of the Foro Italico did not make it possible to stem the adverse weather conditions that hit Rome and the Internazionali BNL d’Italia. Ivan Ljubicic, Roger Federer’s former coach, also focused on this topic – already often debated. The former Croatian tennis player posted some wise advice for the Italian tournament board, through X. “Build the roof!!” he wrote. The comment by Roger Federer’s former coach generated numerous comments from the fans and the crowd, quite annoyed by this lack of the tournament, judged by many to be unacceptable.

The rain scourges the beginning of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia

Certainly not the start of the tournament that everyone expected to see. The Internazionali BNL d’Italia, between painful absences – Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz above all – and delays due to rain, are having more than a few headaches.
In the last few hours there has also been the withdrawal of Matteo Berrettini, which further impoverishes a parterre that promised to be stellar. Once again, it will be up to Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal not to make them regret their absences and to give the many spectators at home and in the stands the show they hoped to see.

Today the Rome-based ATP Masters 1000 suffered numerous interruptions due to rainfall. One of the home idols, Fabio Fognini, should also take to the field in the evening, making his last appearances on such stages. The former Italian number one, who will face the British Daniel Evans, will find playing conditions favorable on paper to his characteristics. Slow courts and humidity could work in his favor. But it didn’t end here. Because today Rafael Nadal, Naomi Osaka, Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek will take to the court – assuming it doesn’t really rain again.
