New England’s drafted and undrafted rookies will get their first real taste of life in the NFL this weekend.

The New England Patriots’ first-year players will soon get their first real taste of life in the NFL. Starting on Friday, the team will welcome them to Gillette Stadium for its 2024 rookie minicamp.

Between Friday and Sunday, the youngsters — who already reported to the team facility on Thursday — will go through a series of club-led activities. They will participate in non-contact, non-padded workouts with the coaching staff, and also go through physical examinations and first introductions into the Patriots’ scheme and overall daily routine.

The NFL-NFLPA Collective Bargaining Agreement will also have a say in what players are permitted to do this weekend: they are allowed to participate in activities for a maximum of 10 hours per day, while no contact or live tackling is allowed during on-field drills.

In a sense, rookie minicamp will be more of an orientation weekend than anything else. That said, it also is still another important step on the journey from the college game to pro football — one that will be taken by New England’s eight draft picks, 10 reported undrafted free agent signings, and at least 21 players invited for tryouts.

Draft picks

The Players listed here were selected by the Patriots in the 2024 NFL Draft. While they have yet to sign their rookie contracts, they are obligated to participate in minicamp if possible to do so.

  • QB Drake Maye
  • WR Ja’Lynn Polk
  • OT Caedan Wallace
  • OL Layden Robinson
  • WR Javon Baker
  • CB Marcellas Dial
  • QB Joe Milton III
  • TE Jaheim Bell

The biggest name on the list of draft picks obviously resides at the very top: rookie minicamp will allow coaches, teammates and reporters alike a first glimpse at quarterback Drake Maye. While early conclusions cannot be drawn from the event, it will be a means of satisfying the desire for information about the third overall pick in this year’s draft.

Undrafted free agents

The players listed here have reportedly signed with the Patriots as undrafted free agents. So far, however, none of the deals have been made official. The list could therefore be subject to change.

  • LB Jett Bush
  • RB DeShaun Fenwick
  • CB Kaleb Ford-Dement
  • OT Zuri Henry
  • LB Jontrey Hunter
  • ED John Morgan III
  • S Dell Pettus
  • OL Charles Turner
  • CB Mikey Victor
  • TE Jacob Warren

The Patriots have signed a reported 10 undrafted free agents so far. Historically, the Patriots have not shied away from given UDFAs opportunities to prove themselves which means that one of those players ending up on the opening day 53-man roster would not come as a surprise.

Tryout players

The players listed here have been invited on a tryout basis. They themselves, their colleges, or their representatives have announced their participation.

  • DL Devin Adams
  • DB Trajan Bandy
  • K/P Vincent Blanchard
  • LB Josh Carr Jr.
  • WR Beau Corrales
  • DB John Davis
  • TE Owen Glascoe
  • LB Tre’Vion Green
  • RB Terrell Jennings
  • OL Ryan Johnson
  • DB Kason McCullough-Cooper
  • ED Jay Person
  • DB John Pupel
  • OL Joey Ramos
  • K Noah Rauschenberg
  • DB Teldrick Ross
  • ED Jotham Russell
  • LB Keontra Smith
  • WR Rory Starkey Jr.
  • OT Tairiq Stewart
  • WR David Wallis

New England brought in several players for tryouts. With the roster very much in flux at this point, those workouts might be a chance for them to showcase that they are deserving of a spot on the team heading into the third phase of offseason workouts and training camp.
