As noted, Billy Gunn and his son Austin Gunn (The Gunn Club) vs. Peter Avalon and Shawn Spears took place during the AEW Dark tapings that were held after this week’s Dynamite episode from the Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi.
According to Austin and fans in attendance, AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes came out after the match and announced that the company has signed the younger Gunn.
It was reported that last week’s Gunn and Gunn vs. Spears and Preston Vance match did not air on this week’s AEW Dark episode because it was never scheduled to. The match took place last week in Jacksonville and was a true dark match, but more of a tryout for Gunn. It was noted that the tryout went well and because of that, this week’s match would likely air on next week’s Dark episode on YouTube.
There’s no word yet on when the 25 year old Austin will make his Dynamite debut, or details of his AEW contract, but we will keep you updated. Billy also works for AEW as a Producer.
