Let’s catch up on CMLL news from the lucha libre world.

Andrade made his return to CMLL last week, and he’s back for rivalry matches. Andrade teamed with cousins Espanto Jr. and Brillante Jr. to wrestle the teacher and students trio of Volador Jr., Magnus, and Magia Blanca. Andrade has history with Volador Jr. when El Idolo won mask versus mask at the 80th Anniversary in 2013.

Friday night (Dec. 22, 2023) saw Andrade and Volador Jr. reignite the rivalry. Andrade stole the win for his team in the third fall with a low blow roll-up victory. Afterward, Volador requested a singles match for next week. Andrade accepted the challenge, because the fans deserve it. The match was made official for Friday, December 29.

That isn’t the only rivalry on Andrade’s agenda. He lost his mask as La Sombra to Atlantis at the 82nd Anniversary in 2015. CMLL announced that Andrade will be in tag team action with Soberano Jr. against Atlantis and Atlantis Jr. on the Tuesday show from Arena Mexico on December 26. Andrade is out for revenge on the father and the son for taking his mask.

Speaking of Soberano Jr. and Atlantis Jr., they are embroiled in a rivalry of their own. The luchadores squared off in a singles bout on Friday. Soberano Jr. took the first fall on a springboard moonsault. Atlantis Jr. evened the score on a frog splash. The match progressed with intense high-flying. Atlantis Jr. earned victory in the end via La Atlantida submission.
