Classification for Paris 2024 Olympic Games

on

The classification system for participating in the golf tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, established by the International Golf Federation, is approaching its final stages. Similar to the editions in Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020, participation is limited to 60 golfers, both male and female, who will compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals through a 72-hole stroke play competition over four days. The men’s event will be held from August 1st to 4th, while the women’s tournament will take place from August 7th to 10th, both at Le Golf National, located near the town of Versailles.

These 60 spots available in each category are allocated through the Olympic Golf Ranking (OGR), which is published on the International Golf Federation (IGF) website, based on the World Golf Ranking as follows:

Paris 2024, golf

The top 15 players in the Olympic Golf Ranking, both male and female, as of June 17th (men) and June 24th, 2024 (women), qualify directly to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, with the exception that no more than 4 golfers from the same country can be within that Top 15.

The remaining spots are filled from 16th place onwards, with a maximum of 2 golfers per country for those who do not have more than 2 representatives within the Top 15.

The host country, France, is guaranteed at least one representative in each of the male and female categories if it does not have any rights based on its position within the respective Official World Rankings.

Likewise, the presence of at least one representative from each of the five continents of the Olympic Movement (Africa, America, Asia, Europe, and Oceania) is guaranteed in both the men’s and women’s events if they do not qualify through the aforementioned Official World Ranking.

The golf Olympic qualification period runs from June 13, 2022, to June 17, 2024 (men), and from June 20, 2022, to June 24, 2024 (women).

The Olympic Golf Ranking OGR is published
