It looks like the end of the road for Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley in TNA. Free agency rumors are strong as the Motor City Machine Guns’ contract expires. TNA sent them out proper with a tag team title match on Impact (Apr. 18, 2024).

Sabin and Shelley hadn’t been on the same page lately, however, they squashed beef for the sake of friendship.

That led to Santino Marella arranging a title bout for MCMG. Sabin & Shelley challenged champions Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards of the System.

The Motor City Machine Guns brought creativity to the ring for a double stack flying dropkick flatliner combo on the System.

Sabin and Shelley proved they were back on good terms when there was no animus after friendly fire. Sabin accidentally superkicked Shelley. The System capitalized for a backpack stunner and flying elbow drop combo, but Sabin kicked out on the cover. The Motor City Machine Guns rebounded to take control, however, Alisha Edwards tipped the scales in the System’s favor.

Alisha pulled Shelley’s foot off the turnbuckles, then Myers shoved Sabin into his partner. Myers clocked Sabin with a Roster Cut lariat, and Eddie added a Boston Knee Party. Myers picked up the winning pin on Sabin to retain the gold.

That’s a wrap for the Motor City Machine Guns in TNA. Sabin provided a simple comment on social media, “Thank you.”

The Motor City Machine Guns are three-time TNA tag team champions. Sabin’s singles accolades include former world heavyweight champion and ten-time X-Division champion. Shelley also won both those titles once.

TNA posted the full match for your viewing pleasure.
