Casino Del Sol Golf Classic, the third edition

on

Roberta Liti, who returns after a break, and Angelica Moresco will compete in the third edition of the Casino Del Sol Golf Classic, the fourth seasonal event of the Epson Tour – the second US women’s circuit – scheduled from March 30 to April 2, over the 72-hole distance, at the Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona.

Casino Del Sol Golf Classic, schedule

The field includes almost all the best athletes of the moment and, in particular, nine among the top ten of the Race For The Card (order of merit) with the Australian Gabriela Ruffels, number one, dominating this phase with a success (Carlisle Arizona Classic), a 30th place and a sixth last Sunday (IOA Championship), which allowed her to take a significant lead in the race towards one of the ‘cards’ for the LPGA Tour 2024. The other two seasonal winners were also on the field, the French Agathe Laisne (Florida’s Natural Classic), number 2 in the ranking, and Chinese Miranda Wang (IOA Championship), number 4. They will be among the favorites together with Kathleen Scavo (n. 3), Malaysian Natasha Andrea Oon (n. 5 ) and the Korean Min A Yoon (n. 6), not winners, but almost always among the protagonists.

Roberta Liti is expected to repeat herself after a promising start to the season with a 16th place (in Florida) and a 10th (in Arizona) which placed her in 19th position on the money list. Angelica Moresco, in her first season on the circuit, finished 39th last week after a cut in Florida in which she paid the price for her debut.

A curiosity. The tournament seems to be doing well for its protagonists. In fact, the winners of the two previous editions, the Chinese Ruixin Liu (2021) and Andrea Lee (2022), and the runners-up, respectively the Swiss Morgane Metraux and Lucy Li, currently play on the major circuit. The prize pool is $200,000 with the first coin being $30,000.

Tucson is a city located in the Sonoran Desert in the state of Arizona. It is surrounded by several mountain ranges, including the Santa Catalina Mountains. The residences of the historic district of El Presidio and the rows of red brick houses of the Barrio Historico date back to the 19th century, when the city was founded. Home to the University of Arizona, Tucson offers several vintage shops, nightclubs, and restaurants on Fourth Avenue near campus.
