Novak Djokovic has gone to Monte Carlo on Thursday, Sport Klub is reporting.

Djokovic, 35, kicked off his preparation for the clay season last weekend.

For a couple of days, Djokovic was practicing on the clay courts of his tennis center in Belgrade.

On Thursday, Djokovic had a practice session with fellow Serb Filip Krajinovic.

After the practice, Djokovic went to Monte Carlo, where he will be practicing until the first clay Masters tournament of the year starts on April 9th.

Djokovic to return to action in Monte Carlo

After concluding his Dubai campaign, Djokovic said if he was denied entry into the United States, he would switch his focus on the clay season and Monte Carlo Masters.

“I don’t know what ‘the rest’ is. I’m still waiting for the news from America. If there’s no America, I guess I’ll play clay. Monte-Carlo is probably the next tournament. If that’s the case, I’ll take some time off, I’ll prepare. Clay, as we’ve said, is the most demanding surface. It takes time more than any other surface to prepare for. Look, the year is long. I started off the year in a best possible way, winning many matches in a row, winning Australian Open. That’s the one that I looked for the most. That was the priority in this part of the year. Of course, any other tournament win is a bonus. I will always give everything I possibly can to play my best tennis in every tournament. Yeah, look forward to the next challenge,” Djokovic said.

Two weeks ago, Djokovic was informed that he also would not be allowed to enter the United States for the Miami Masters.

After Djokovic was also denied entry into the United States for Miami, it became clear that from that moment his focus would switch on the clay season.

Djokovic is now set to play again in Monte Carlo, where he is a two-time champion.
