Canucks Chasing Guentzel Trade, Flipping Newly-Acquired Top Star NHL Trade Talk.

With the Trade Deadline only three days away, more rumors and player movement have started to emerge. One of these players has been Penguins forward Jake Guentzel, who is expected to be dealt from the Pittsburgh Penguins by the deadline. Multiple teams are in the mix for the 29-year-old, and one of these teams includes the Vancouver Canucks.

The Canucks have been aggressive in the trade market acquiring players such as Nikita Zadorov and Elias Lindholm earlier on. Patrik Allvin and Canucks management are confident they can go all in this season without a doubt.

However, Insider Chris Johnson reports that the Canucks are looking to make yet another splash at this year’s deadline.

Canucks Considering Flipping Top Centreman

Johnson reports that the Canucks are interested in Guentzel and are considering moving centerman Elias Lindholm to the Boston Bruins to make it happen. This would be an absolute blockbuster sequence of events as Lindholm was acquired not too long ago from the Calgary Flames.

Lindholm has played 14 games for the Canucks since he arrived from Calgary and has struggled. In 14 games he has recorded four goals and six points and is pointless in his last six games. Lindholm has also recorded a minus-5 rating in his tenure as a Canuck.

Lindholm was seen as being a reliable top-six center for a strong Canucks forward group. It’s safe to say that the results so far have been pretty underwhelming as Lindholm continues to struggle.

With the Boston Bruins being a potential landing spot for Lindholm, the Bruins instantly add to their center depth. Lindholm, a centerman linked to the Bruins, could fill their need for a true number one center.

While he certainly isn’t that, the addition of Lindholm would be huge for a Bruins team looking to capitalize on playoff success. If this trade does come to fruition, it will be an absolute blockbuster deal.

Canucks Continue to be Aggressive in the Trade Market

The Canucks considering moving out Lindholm just shows the aggressiveness Allvin and the management group have this season. If the Canucks do indeed go after Guentzel, it sends a strong message to the fanbase on how eager they want to win.

Guentzel who is 29, has seen playoff success in his time with Pittsburgh. During his rookie season in 2017, he scored 21 points in 25 playoff games to help the Penguins win the Stanley Cup. Since then he has managed to record 58 points in 58 playoff games.

The Canucks would be getting a known playoff performer with substantial playoff experience. They have a young core that doesn’t have much playoff experience and adding a playoff veteran like Guentzel would be a major plus.

The Penguins are expected to trade star forward Jake Guentzel by this year’s Trade Deadline.

In short, adding Guentzel to the Canucks forward core would be a blockbuster deal. If Lindholm gets dealt, controversy might emerge.

However, it seems like the Canucks are willing to do everything it takes for a deep playoff run this season and could care less about controversy.

We will see where this goes.
