Black Ops 6 Officially Revealed by Call of Duty

on

It’s finally here – Call of Duty has officially revealed Black Ops 6. Today, Activision confirmed that the next game in the Call of Duty series – launching later this year – will be Black Ops 6, a continuation of the most popular sub-franchise in the twenty-year history of the legendary first-person shooter. In recent days, Activision’s teams were busy teasing the upcoming title with a series of cryptic videos, and now, the key art, iconography, and title are out there for everyone to see.

On June 9, Activision Blizzard is hosting a Call of Duty showcase, during which it’ll showcase everything about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Until then, we’ll continue to soak up these teasers. Activision has kicked off the marketing for Black Ops 6 in an epic way, taking over the front cover of the New York Post with a fictional story that’s tied directly to the campaign of Black Ops 6.

This could be the biggest, boldest, and darkest Call of Duty game ever.

Black Ops 6 is Coming

The internet is ablaze with speculation about Black Ops 6. While a few teasers have surfaced online, almost nothing is known about the game at the moment. Activision is drip-feeding this content to the community, and the content creation portion of that market is neck-deep in spewing out videos about every little detail of these early snippets. What we’ve seen so far is:

  • An emblem containing three wolf heads in front of a shield – this is a running theme
  • An unidentified faction wreaking political havoc, plastering posters on walls and hanging banners over Mount Rushmore
  • A mysterious tagline: ‘The Truth Lies’, which has been used in almost every teaser and appears to relate to the United States government

Some other details have been dredged up by eagle-eyed Call of Duty fans. For instance, it seems as though Adler is making a return to the series – he was last seen in Black Ops Cold War. There’s a reference floating around to the Gulf War, which has long been believed to be the setting of Black Ops 6. Given the distrust and deception that was rampant around the Gulf War towards the US government, it makes sense that the tagline of ‘The Truth Lies’ would be a running theme.

It was also revealed that – as we thought – Raven Software and Treyarch are co-developing the game, and have likely been working together on it for several years. We’ll know much more on June 9 when the full game is revealed at the Call of Duty showcase, so stay tuned and get the latest news as it drops.
