Bandai Namco Announce Tekken 8 Ban Wave

on

The latest big fighting game to release in 2024 has been Tekken 8. It’s got tons of upgrades from the last instalment. One aspect of gaming today though is that some players will always try to get ahead in online play using nefarious means. Cheating, boosting, or just plain being toxic. They’re pretty much impossible to avoid when plying online. That’s why we’ve just seen a huge Tekken 8 ban wave roll out.

As promised in recent updates from developers, they’re taking action to address anyone disrupting proper game play. Bandai Namco has just announced they’ve rolled out a huge ban wave. It’s addressing those who are cheating and trying to unfairly climb up the Tekken ranks. However, there’s also other anti-social behaviours they’re combating. This is who’s effected in the most recent Tekken 8 bans.

Tekken 8 Ban Wave Rolls Out

Bandai Namco have this week announced they’re taking harsher measures against those who break the rules in Tekken 8. Cheaters, as you’d expect, as being banned. However, Bandai are addressing some more niche forms of exploitation. This is the full list they gave out as reasons for the current Tekken 8 ban wave.

  • Intentional disconnecting
  • Cheating
  • Glitches
  • Rank boosting
  • Inappropriate in-game and chat behaviour

All of these are sources of a problems in-game. Some are fairly self-explanatory. Taking a hardline approach to things like intentionally disconnecting or using a glitch is a bit different though. These are toxic practises which can ruin the online experience, but often it’s more of a a grey area that get slight punishments.

Seeing a more serious approach to cut down on bad behaviour in-game is reassuring for Tekken fans. This title should end up with a much healthier scene for playing online. The world of fighting game esports with LANs is great, but it’s often online where new players home their skills. With this major Tekken 8 ban wave, the online lobbies should stay fun to play in over the coming months.
