Definitely, the 2022-2023 season of SCO Angers is turning into a disaster. Red lantern of the classification, sentenced to Ligue 2, mired in problems with justice, the SCO has just had new bad news. Indeed, this Thursday, West France reveals that FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber has just sanctioned the club with a recruitment ban for the next two transfer windows. The reason ? A dispute with the Esperance Tunis club concerning the player Ilyes Chetti. The Algerian defender, freshly sentenced to a four-month suspended prison sentence for acts of sexual assault, had broken his contract with the Tunisian club which had challenged this decision. FIFA agreed with Esperance in this case. Chetti must pay 970,000 euros to his former club and Angers is therefore prohibited from recruiting for the next two transfer windows. But Angers will appeal to the CAS as he announced in his press release. “The Angers SCO club was condemned “jointly and severally to pay this compensation and a ban on registering new players for the next two transfer window periods”. The club, not considering itself responsible for a termination of the contract prior to the hiring of the player Ilyes Chetti, has decided to appeal this decision before the CAS.. If the sanction is confirmed, the SCO will be in great danger as more than fifteen players will leave the club this summer after the descent into Ligue 2.
