Juan Carlos Ferrero, coach of the Spanish young star Carlos Alcaraz, analyzed the expectations on the new generation of tennis players, answering a question regarding Jannik Sinner’s progress, in an interview given to La Nacion.
“I think the next generation is very good. Maybe there will be a little more fight to win a Slam. With the Big 3 (Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer – ed.) the circle has narrowed in the last twenty years. Now it’s nice that there are four, five or six contenders. For me it’s worse, because I want Carlos to win and I would prefer there weren’t so many, but for the people it’s spectacular!” said the former ATP number 1.

“Does Sinner’s exploits represent a problem or an additional motivation for Alcaraz? We have already seen Sinner work very well two years ago and we knew that this moment would come. He’s been knocking on the door for a long time and playing tennis to win Grand Slams.
I had doubts about his physical condition, because he was very thin. But now he has matured and grown from this point of view too. He is a player to keep in mind in all tournaments, an important candidate to win, just like Carlos,” analyzed Ferrero.

The rivalry between Jannik and Carlitos has already captured the attention of all fans and given the crowds several exciting chapters in a saga destined to monopolize the future of tennis.

The Italian and the Spaniard have faced each other seven times in their career, giving rise to challenges that are as intense as they are balanced. Sinner leads the head-to-head 4-3 and has won the last two matches against his young colleague from Murcia, at the ATP Masters 1000 in Miami and at the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing.
Sinner started the season by confirming the good things done in the final part of 2023, winning the first Slam of his career at the Australian Open. Alcaraz, however, stopped in the quarter-finals in Melbourne, eliminated by Alexander Zverev.
