A.J. is here to stay!

If you thought tonight was all about the 2024 NFL Draft for the Philadelphia Eagles, you thought wrong!

The Birds made some major news just minutes before the draft by agreeing to terms on a three-year, $96 million contract extension. This news comes from NFL insider Ian Rapoport after previously being hinted at earlier on Thursday by Howard Eskin.

It’s a historically valuable deal worth $84 million guaranteed that puts Brown, who turns 27 in June, under contract through the 2029 season. Brown previously ranked fifth in annual wide receiver value at $25 million and he was signed through 2026. His new money value of $32 million puts him about $2 million over Amon-Ra St. Brown as the league’s highest-paid receiver. Brown likely won’t remain on top for long with the likes of Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, etc. due to get paid at some point.

Brown’s extension comes on the heels of a new contract extension for fellow Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith. The Eagles’ top two pass-catchers are now locked in for at least the next five seasons. Once previously struggling to field viable receivers in the days of Jalen Reagor and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, the Eagles now have one of the NFL’s elite WR duos.

Brown ranks third in receiving yards, sixth in receiving yards per reception, and sixth in receiving touchdowns among all NFL players since the Eagles traded for him in 2022. Any idea of moving on from him was pretty unserious.
