During the spring of 2022, ASSE supporters had regained hope. While the sales file continued to stretch, an American investor, David Blitzer, landed in Forez to visit the club’s facilities and prepare for his arrival in Saint-Etienne. But the operation ultimately fell apart for various reasons.
The year 2022 has been a nightmare for ASSE. Last May, the Saint-Etienne club lost its accession barrage against the‘AJ Auxerre in shots on goal. A disappointment for this historic team in the French championship, but also for the Saint-Etienne supporters. After the meeting, some fans let their anger explode. The Blitzer track would no longer be relevant
Co-owner of Crystal Palacethis 53-year-old American was present at Saint Etienne to experience the atmosphere of Geoffroy Guichard, with a view to buying the club from Bernard Caiazzo And Roland Romeyer. But as stated progress, Blitzer would no longer intend to set foot in the Forez. Chairman of the Board ofASSE, Roland Romeyer referred to the failure of negotiations with Blitzer. “ David Blitzer formulated a non-binding offer which seemed interesting to Bernard Caïazzo and me, and we asked KPMG to give him access to the electronic data room so that he could formulate a firm offer. However, none was filed within the timeframe he had promised to deliver it to us.
