Wyndham Clark on One Reason Scottie Scheffler Is Better Than the Rest

on

Scottie Scheffler has impressed many with his victory at the Masters. Although he achieved the same feat two years ago, some were not optimistic that Scheffler could repeat it. However, true golf fans, knowing Scheffler’s quality and the fact that he has been shining this year, knew that this outcome was entirely realistic.

His colleagues also know Scheffler’s qualities well and consider him currently far ahead of his competition. Wyndham Clark is one of those who reacted to Scheffler’s victory at the Masters. Although Clark didn’t perform well at the Masters this year, as he missed the cut, he commented on Scottie and his success. Clark believes that Scheffler is currently the best player in the world. He thinks that the biggest advantage of the 27-year-old golfer is his consistency. Wyndham intends to work on it.

“Scottie is the best player in the world right now, and he’s been so consistent. That’s one thing that I’ve really — I’ve been trying to get better at. I think when my game is on and his game is on, I think we both can battle it out, and I believe I can win tournaments against Scottie when he’s playing well.”- Wyndham Clark said, as quoted by Irish Golfer!

Clark expressed admiration for Scheffler’s consistency, stressing that Scheffler consistently contends in tournaments and frequently achieves top finishes, if not victories. Clark admitted that there is currently a gap between his own performance level and Scheffler’s, but he hopes to narrow that gap over time as he improves mentally and physically as a player. He aims to close the distance between his performance and Scheffler’s by the end of the year or sometime next year.

Clark wants to focus most on his mindset, aware that he can compete against the best. His ambitions are not to finish his story in the early rounds. He intends to contend for trophies in major tournaments. Watching other golfers, such as Scheffler, Clark believes he has a chance to learn a lot. What makes one golfer superior to others is consistency. Scheffler has shown consistency this year and intends to continue at the same pace going forward.

He hopes to build a rivalry with players like Scheffler in the future. Clark emphasizes the significance of having a standout golfer who performs much better than his competitors. This not only attracts attention from fans but also increases interest in golf. Furthermore, Clark highlights that when one golfer is so superior, others assess themselves and contemplate what they can do to reach a similar level of superiority. Sometimes, competing with individuals several steps ahead can be challenging. For some, it serves as motivation, while for others, it may be discouraging. Clearly, Clark belongs to the former group.

The 30-year-old American hopes that he can be the golfer to rival Scheffler in the future. He intends to train hard and diligently. With hard work and self-belief, Clark is aware that nothing is impossible.

“I think it is good. I think it would be great if we could have multiple guys that are kind of battling it out all the time.

I don’t know if that’s me or could be someone else, but I would love for it to be me, and I’m working as hard as I can to be that person.”

Wyndham Clark wants to improve

To achieve success, it’s essential to correct the mistakes you’ve made. Clark is aware that there are many shortcomings in his game that he needs to work on. Even the best in the world of golf have room for improvement, and Clark is no exception.

Clark talked about the areas he needs to improve in his game. Firstly, he stresses the need for consistent improvement in his putting skills. He also recognizes that his short game hasn’t been up to par recently compared to his previous standards. Additionally, he aims to improve his focus on the golf course, admitting that he’s made some mistakes due to lapses in concentration, leading to unnecessary shots being lost.

Clark is reflecting on his game and identifies three areas for improvement. He stresses that by consistently improving and shaving off one shot per day, he could potentially secure victories, such as being in contention at Bay Hill or winning The Players Championship. He believes that these improvements require dedication and work. Wyndham remains optimistic about the future, acknowledging that progress could happen quickly or take some time.

Looking at his recent performances, Clark can be optimistic. He has demonstrated time and again that he possesses top-notch qualities, but it’s necessary for him to continue in the same vein in the future, with even greater ambitions.
