Will Jannik Sinner be able to play in Rome?

Jannik Sinner came back to Monte-Carlo and underwent an MRI which will give an answer on his hip injury, with the related recovery times.

The withdrawal from the Mutua Madrid Open, although it was precautionary in view of Rome and the Roland Garros, worried the young Italian’s fans.

If the medical response is favourable, the 23-year-old will arrive in Rome on Sunday, where he will begin his training ahead of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia.

As he is the seed No.2, his Rome tournament will begin next Friday at the earliest.

Enough time to possibly get back into good physical shape? And above all, will there be useful time to recover from the efforts of these months, which have seen him highly competitive in all the tournaments in which he took part?

Jannik has always reached at least the quarterfinals in all events played. In this sense, the rest he granted himself when withdrawing from Madrid can only do him good, not straining his painful hip and thus making him fresher in view of the most intense part of the season, where Roma will be played in a few weeks , Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the Paris Olympics.

According to Sky Sport, there would be cautious optimism about his physical situation, although the hip problems must always be managed and monitored with caution.

Jannik’s injury forced him to withdraw from Madrid

Jannik, on the eve of the Mutua Madrid Open quarterfinals before the match against Felix Auger Aliassime, announced his withdrawal from the tournament due to a hip problem that has been persecuting him for weeks.

“I’m very sad to have to withdraw from the Madrid tournament. My hip has been bothering me this week and the pain has slowly increased.

Following the doctors’ advice we decided not to play so as not to make things worse. In the next few days I will do more tests and follow the specialists’ advice on recovery. Thank you for all your support,” he wrote in a message shared on social media.
