Just over a month after signing his contract with LIV Golf, comments from Jon Rahm’s new colleagues have been made known.
Let’s start with the most direct of all.
Jon Rahm, statements
It seems that Ian James Poulter, one of the Captains of Team Majesticks GC, sent a message directly to Rahm while he was traveling to New York, where he had a signing appointment:
“If this is true, I will cry.”
Poulter, of course, did not admit to having cried:
“I think seeing him play is an exceptional thing for golf enthusiasts who follow LIV and for all those who will start to follow it”
“It’s wonderful to have another player of global importance joining others of the same importance who are already playing on LIV.”
Even Brooks Koepka, who saw Rahm take off his Green Jacket last year, welcomes the Spaniard’s arrival:
“I’m happy that he is with us”
“He’s a great player. It will be fun to watch him play and compete with him in the next games this year.”
“Every time you see a great player show up, you know you want to play against the best.”
Dustin Johnson, Captain of the 4Aces GC Team, in welcoming Rahm is essential as usual:
“Obviously it’s a fantastic thing for LIV. It’s fantastic for all of us. Rahm is a great player. Having a player like that makes the League absolutely stronger.”
I close with the words of Phil Mickelson, undoubtedly the symbolic player of the advent of LIV:
“He is acting as an aggregator, as a bridge intended to unite the two parties involved”
“If you are the organizer of a Major, the Ryder Cup or another major tournament, you don’t want to proceed in the next few years without having Jon Rahm”
“He is one of the best players in the world.”
In 20 days the LIV Golf season will begin, and Jon Rahm will finally take to the field at the head of the team, whose name has been leaked.
It will be called Legio XIII GC, in memory of the Legion that was stationed in Spain at the time of the Roman Empire.
