Vince McMahon Laughing At Chants During Hell in a Cell, Original Plans

on

According to sources, two ideas were being considered for an ending to the WWE Universal title match at Hell in a Cell. Both ideas would have ended in a referee stoppage. The first ending, which is the one we got, saw Seth Rollins smashing Bray Wyatt with several different items. The second ending would have seen Wyatt take a bump off the cage in a Mick Foley-esque fashion. The rest of the ending would play out the same with the referee stopping the match and Wyatt popping up. Both of the endings were meant to resemble a horror movie trope where the killer was believed to be dead. Then, the killer would pop up at the end. The ending we received was reportedly Vince McMahon’s idea.

Speaking of McMahon, sources have confirmed that he was laughing at the chants that took place to end the show. Fans were chanting “refund,” “restart the match,” “bullshit,” and “AEW.” Some sources were saying that his laughter was meant to disguise his anger, but its now confirmed that he genuinely thought it was funny. They’ve mentioned that McMahon does take the chants seriously and is aware that he screwed up.

While Wyatt is out with an injury, Seth Rollins did not sustain any injuries but was not used during Monday Night Raw. The belief is that WWE was trying to distance itself from the match to avoid the chants from happening again. It’s noted that Rollins has been receiving the blame for the way the match ended on social media. Wyatt’s injuries are not serious and should be back soon.
