Aimers and surfers rejoice – Valve has released Counter-Strike 2 community maps in a brand-new update for the game. Community maps were a staple of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, providing players with the perfect diversion from competitive action.

Signs of Hope For CS2?

The release of Counter-Strike 2 community maps is long-awaited. It was a disappointment to fans when the game’s September launch came without the feature, but Valve has finally got around to implementing one of CS:GO’s defining features.

One of the biggest criticisms of CS2 so far is the lack of feature parity with CS:GO. Now, we have some real hope that all will be back to normal pretty soon. Valve is continuing to iterate with every new CS2 update, but this change is one of the largest and most exciting changes so far.

Return of Surf, B-Hop, and Aim Maps

The update itself brings back the ability to upload Counter-Strike 2 community maps to the Steam Workshop, as well as giving community servers the ability to actually host those maps. This can only mean one thing – the return of modes like Surf and B-Hop, as well as aim maps.

Surf and B-Hop were always essential for anyone looking to improve their movement in Counter-Strike, as they gave players an environment where they could practice the fundamentals in a fun and engaging way. We’ll see a huge influx of CS2 Surf and B-Hop maps in the coming weeks, although some have already been ported over from CS:GO.

We’ve tried some of the ported CS2 Surf maps, and honestly, the physics just aren’t quite there yet. We’d recommend you wait until community maps created specifically for CS2 Surf are released.

The new CS2 update also means the release of aim maps. These were always a warm-up staple for many players, so it’s a huge relief to see these Counter-Strike community maps return. The famous Aim Botz map has already been released, and updated for CS2. Now, you can practice popping heads at your heart’s content!
