Seattle has a third-rounder, the same round in which Lockett was traded.

The NFL has made it a fairly recent tradition to have current and former players walk to the podium and announce picks on Day 2 of the draft. At the moment, the Seattle Seahawks will only have one pick (Round 3, No. 81) on Friday, which is fitting because the player who’s set to announce that selection was taken in that round.

Star wide receiver Tyler Lockett will have the honors when the Seahawks are on the clock on Friday. I should note that even though he’s already a Seahawks legend, he isn’t retired so he does not have the same “legend” distinction.

The Seahawks draft Lockett by trading up in the third round to get the ex-Kansas State star at No. 69. Lockett is 2nd across the board behind the great Steve Largent in Seattle’s all-time record for receptions (612), yards (7,994), and touchdowns (59).

Former Seahawks T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Warren Moon will be announcing draft picks; Houshmandzadeh gets the Cincinnati Bengals, where he played the majority of his career alongside Chad Johnson, while Moon will announce the second-round pick for the Tennessee Titans (formerly the Houston Oilers).

I wonder how that Ric Flair announcement for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is going to go.
