The Broncos have officially secured a QB-WR duo, and Troy Franklin is completely sold on this team.

Well, that’s a wrap on the 2024 NFL Draft. And what a haul we pulled! Take a minute to meet WR Troy Franklin, drafted in round 4 (number 102 overall).

As the college teammate of QB Bo Nix (the Denver Broncos’ first draft pick at no. 12), Franklin’s going to be starting out with at least some level of chemistry with this offense. “They are very catchable,” he said of Nix’s passes, “He makes the receiver’s job easier. That is my guy right there.”

Franklin couldn’t be more stoked to reunite with Nix, or more grateful to Denver for giving him “a chance to go out there and showcase my talent and do whatever I need to do to help the team.”

“I’m relaxed now. I just wanted to get my name called,” Franklin admitted, seemingly riding on cloud nine, “It’s a blessed feeling. I’m grateful to be selected. I don’t even know what to say right now. It is just a dream come true.”

He shared a bit of the approach they took to practice and gameplay in those last two seasons at Oregon, saying, “We have a lot of player-led stuff that goes on at Oregon…just the whole offensive unit would just make sure we’re walking through stuff. We’re passing the ball, just running routes on there. Making sure our connection was right. Just trying to hone in, making sure that we’re on the same page and getting things done.”

In all the busyness of the draft season, Franklin confessed that he hasn’t talked to Nix much lately, and that the two were doing their own things. He did, however, catch passes in his private workout with the Broncos.

“It was really more spot catching, but I just wanted to make sure that it obviously looked like I was catching the ball easily, fluidly, all of that good stuff. They had me run a couple of top of the routes, and did that just fluid,” he said.

He didn’t have a personal meeting with the Broncos that day like Nix did, but Franklin did make a point to have “good conversations with them and things like that.”

“I think I gave off a good first impression to them when they were out there.”

All that said, Franklin was not the least bit disappointed with his name being called on the final day instead of day two. For him, he just wanted to get drafted.

“I know I just need an opportunity to get to the NFL and to show them what I am capable of doing,” he explained, “For me, that is all it takes. I just need the opportunity the Broncos gave me and now it is time for that.”

Asked what he brings to an NFL roster, Franklin expressed full confidence in his abilities, while acknowledging that he has some weight to put on. All in all, he said, “I really think all parts of my game are pretty sharp. I think I can do everything.”
