Tiger Woods-RoryMcIlroy-Thomas, Major trio

on

It’s a nice trio that the organizers of the Genesis Invitational have planned, too happy to be able to count on the return of Tiger Woods after two full years of absence from a regular PGA Tour tournament: the Tiger will play Thursday and Friday with the world number 2, Rory McIlroy, and with another of his best friends on the circuit, Justin Thomas.

Tiger Woods, schedule

They will be on tee number 1 on Thursday at noon (12:04 p.m. exactly, 9:04 p.m. in France) and their reunion promises to make some pretty sparks: Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas will spend several hours together, on the Riviera course Country Club of Los Angeles, and it will be again on Friday, starting at 7:24 a.m. (4:24 p.m. HF).

An ideal configuration to allow the Tiger to regain his feelings, seven months after his missed cut at St Andrews, during the 150th edition of The Open. And more than two years after his last official outing on the PGA Tour, at the ZOZO Championship at the end of 2020, in Japan.

A few other trios will be worth the trip, for the many Californian fans, starting with the 100% US set of aces, totaling six Major victories, which will succeed them, 11 minutes later (12:15 p.m.), on tee number 1: Scottie Scheffler, once again world No. 1 after his victory in Phoenix on Sunday, Jordan Spieth and Collin Morikawa. Not bad either the trio Hideki Matsuyama, Justin Rose, Shane Lowry, in the next part (12:26).

A few hours earlier, at 7:24 a.m., Jon Rahm, the world No. 3, will have started from the 10th with Patrick Cantlay and Viktor Hovland, with in the next group (7:35 a.m.) three other big customers, Tony Finau, Billy Horschel and Adam Scott, the Australian elected and announced this week as chairman of the PGA Tour Players’ Council. And just after Max Homa and Xander Schauffele, at 7:46 a.m., then Will Zalatoris and Cameron Champ, at 7:57 a.m. It promises !
