The Best Brawlhalla Skins in 2024

on

Brawlhalla is one of the biggest fighting games and it’s a title that is free-to-play. Like most free games, that basically means a boatload of skins and other items are available for purchase! Nothing is truly free, not if you want to unlock everything. Brawlhalla skins get pretty crazy between crossovers and unique designs. How exactly do skins work in this fighting game?

Different titles have varying approaches. Some chose to dress the characters in their roster up in skins, others just plain switched out models for more authentic takes on skins. Fighting games don’t really lend themselves to the whole crossover character thing that’s popular in other free games as it would mean totally unique move sets for a skin. Yet, Brawlhalla manages it.

How do Brawlhalla skins work? It’s a bit of a multi-tier system. Some skins are essentially characters, with unique characteristics. Others are more of a palette swaps or real alternative outfits though. Brawlhalla does a bit of both, it’s a creative solution.

Out of all the skins we’ve had, there are some really cool ones. Looking at the best Brawlhalla skins shows off just how fun this game can be.

Gorgon Thea

When you’re playing to win, or in Brawlhalla Ranked Mode, it’s best to use the higher-ranked characters. One of the best in the game is Thea the Speedster. They don’t have anything too crazy in the store so far, but this is one of their most exciting.

Gorgon Thea makes the characters into the Mythological Gorgon. It’s a unique take on them that shows not every character’s skin has to fit the same theme. It’s really quite unique.

Shovel Knight

The Shovel Knight is the star of a hit indie game, and since then he’s appeared in tons of different titles. He’s a great representation of the world of Indies in Brawlhalla skins.

Like Chun Li, Shovel Knight is also a character with their own slot. Coming from an indie game though it’s cool to see them get promoted to main roster. They appeared in the Smash Bros roster too. However, there is not a full character there. Brawlhalla went all the way though.

Chun Li

Brawlhalla is a fighter, so it makes sense that some of its crossovers have been with other major fighters. The Chun Li Brawlhalla skin is a fun cartoony take on the character. The game has quite a few Street Fighter characters as skins.

Chun Li uses unique skins for the Spear and Gauntlets. This allows the move set to more closely resemble how Chun Li fights, without having to make them an entire character! It’s also a good example of the crossover skins getting their own roster slot, even though they’re based on an existing character.

Plague Knight

Plague Knight is another skin with a link to Shovel Knight, but they’re not really as recognizable as most crossovers. This skin just has a fun design. It seems to fit into the world of Brawlhalla perfectly even if it’s a crossover skin! The Plague Doctor bird guy image has basically become a meme lately, but it’s fun to see a creepy historical outfit represented in Brawlhalla.

SpongeBob

SpongeBob marks a bit of a new change for crossovers in Brawlhalla. He is the only mythic skin in the game. The character has the normal features with a unique version of weapons. However, he also has unique animations. This skin marks a kind of halfway point between a skin and a character in full, which makes them worth highlights out of all the Brawlhalla skins they’ve become more of a fully separate character.

Supreme Ruler Vraxx

Okay, not all of the picks for best Brawlhalla skins have to be crazy crossovers. Supreme Rules Vraxx is just a fun take on one of the Brawlhalla characters. It’s a different version of the character, making them look like a classic alien overlord! It harkens back to campy sci-fi and always stands out when you see it in-game.

How Do Brawlhalla Skins Work?

Those are some of the best Brawlhalla skins, but how exactly do skins in the game work? As they’ve probably noticed some are different skins for some characters, and some just seem to be stand-alone characters!

Brawlhalla differentiates between skins in this way. The Epic Crossover skins are almost their own characters. While based on a character, they have unique weapons, unique roster slots, and they generally function as separate characters.

More recently, with the Spongebob collab, we’ve even started getting unique features to these skins. We now get Mythic skins which are basically fighters labelled as skins.

Other skins are more traditional though, just a different outfit. These ones don’t cost as much and can be a fun way to show off a character’s uniqueness.

Brawlhalla skins push the boundaries between cosmetics and new characters. It’s allowed the fighter to become a huge crossover event though. Brawlhalla updates are always adding more fun skins, so watch out for our next collab that’ll likely be coming soon.
