Jannik Sinner will have to give up the Internazionali BNL d’Italia and, with today’s press conference (read our article here for details), he has questioned his presence at the Roland Garros.
A great result in Rome would probably have given him the final push towards the ATP No.1 spot, but now the challenge for the throne of men’s tennis seems to still be losing to Novak Djokovic. In recent months, the Serbian champion has seen the gap to the Italian tennis player increasingly close, up to just over 1000 points today.
The 24-time slam champion will have the chance in the tournament won by him 6 times to once again lead on his young Italian rival. A possibility that is certainly not remote, considering the absence of Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and probably Daniil Medvedev.
The Serbian superstar will in fact be forced to win in Italy if he wants to be ATP No.1 even after Paris. The 36-year-old from Belgrade, in fact, will lose 2000 points in Paris and it is precisely there that Sinner, if he resolves his hip problems, will be able to launch the decisive offensive to carry out the first historic overtaking. But there are currently many doubts about Jannik’s possible presence in Paris.

Sinner skips Rome
Following the hip problem that has been tormenting him for weeks, Jannik Sinner will have to miss the Internazionali BNL in Rome.
A defeat that was in the air, but which the Italian number one made official only a few hours ago, via his social channels. In the end, exactly what all his fans didn’t hope for, but unfortunately feared, happened.
“It is not easy to write this message but after speaking again with the doctors and specialists about my hip problems I have to announce that unfortunately I will not be able to play in Rome. Obviously I am very sad that I have not recovered, as it is one of my favorite tournaments absolutely.
I couldn’t wait to come back and play at home in front of the Italian crowd,” wrote Jannik.
