Seahawks Reacts, Week 16: How are we feeling about the playoffs now?

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles at Seattle Seahawks

Is Seattle going to make the postseason, or will they stumble at the final hurdle?

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Seattle Seahawks fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.

It’s time for another edition of Seahawks Reacts! That confidence poll has been in the dumps for weeks now, but will there be a big bump after a potential season-changing win over the Philadelphia Eagles? You’re the ones voting, so it’s up to you!

This week’s non-confidence poll questions are all over the place. We start with the playoff confidence checker, of sorts. Will Seattle make the postseason or not? It’s a “Yes” or “No” answer, but with the new context that the Seahawks are almost a guarantee to make the postseason if they win out. Emphasis on if. The Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals can play spoiler, while the Pittsburgh Steelers are still fighting for their playoff lives and not to finish below .500 for the first time in Mike Tomlin’s career.

Next is a safety question. Julian Love has filled in for the injured Jamal Adams at strong safety several times this year, and has otherwise been an extra DB when Adams does play. Adams is not exactly the most popular player on the roster right now, whereas Love just had a pair of interceptions off Jalen Hurts, including the game-clincher. Love has forced four consecutive turnovers and picked a hell of a time to play his best ball as a ‘Hawk. It’s not been an overall great year for Love, who has had his own issues with missed tackles and coverage mix-ups, but it’s possible we’re seeing a positive turning point.

Pete Carroll indicated that the plan is for Adams to return against the Tennessee Titans, so the expectation is that Adams will be starting again. No benching despite some ugly on-field moments over the past couple of weeks. The question is whether or not you believe it’s time for Love to start over Adams anyway.

Lastly, Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s heroic winning touchdown against Philly puts him at 53 catches on the year with three games to go. He needs 15 more receptions to stand alone in Seahawks history as having the most catches in a season by a rookie. Joey Galloway has the all-time mark at 67 receptions, and safe to say that JSN will not be matching Galloway’s 1,039 receiving yards over the final three weeks. Does JSN benefit from an extra game? Sure! But the record is the record. Will JSN get to 67, exceed 67, or fall short of 67? Have your vote!
