Rumor Roundup: Roman Reigns time off, Giulia WWE debut, Adam Cole, more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Rumors for the Day:

  • Roman Reigns is set to be off WWE television “for an indefinite period of time”, according to what WrestleVotes has heard. Even so, Reigns will have continue to have “substantial creative input” on the Bloodline’s story.
  • How long will Roman be away? Wrestle Ops recently shared that the next episode of TV Reigns is advertised for is the SmackDown before SummerSlam on Aug. 2.
  • A report on Giulia from Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan says that she’s expected to make her WWE debut at NXT Heatwave on July 7, and to compete for one of the brand’s women’s titles on that show.
  • Plans call for Giulia to keep her name in WWE, which along with Tama Tonga recently doing the same could indicate a new trend for the company post-Vince McMahon.
  • Sources close to Adam Cole tell Fightful Select the AEW star is “not very close to returning to the ring.” Future TV appearances aren’t off the table, but won’t happen regularly as Cole is off the road because travel was slowing his recovery. There’s no currently no timetable for his return.
  • WWE did investigate Ronda Rousey’s story about Drew Gulak pulling the drawstring on her sweatpants, per f4wonline.com’s Bryan Alvarez. As for the outcome, Alvarez tweeted: “Gulak has been murdered in storyline. So I presume that tells you the result of the investigation.
  • City & state officials representing Milwaukee, Wisconsin met with WWE officials during WrestleMania week in Philadelphia about bringing a future Royal Rumble to the city, according to a CBS 58 report. An article in the Philadelphia Business Journal also noted that city officials plan to “petition to bring WrestleMania back” to that city (Nick Khan may have some bad news for Team Philly).
  • Brayden Ray and Julian Baldi of WWE: Next Gen both say they’ve signed WWE contracts.
