Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • King and Queen of the Ring tournament matches were moved off Raw to house shows due to time constraints, says Fightful Select. This was also to avoid overloading an episode of television with tournament matches.
  • They also say that “the participants for at least one of the matches that got moved off Raw found out the day of.”
  • Per multiple outlets, the Asuka injury that led to her being taken out of the Queen of the Ring tournament is legitimate, it’s just not clear the nature of it.
  • Per Post Wrestling, WWE originally wanted to run Paris for Backlash but settled on Lyon because “not one building was willing to accommodate them for a four day stop.” That’s apparently because the Olympic Games are less than 100 days away.
  • To piggyback on yesterday’s Jerry Lawler note, he told PW Insider his WWE career is “probably over” now.
  • According to Fightful, many of the NXT call ups in the Draft were backstage at Raw this week they just weren’t used for television.
