Rumor Roundup: Finn Balor re-signing, WWE debut, Draft names, Jeff Hardy status, more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Rumors for the Day:

  • After Fightful Select reported that Finn Balor was expected to sign a long-term contract extension with WWE, Balor tweeted “I have decided that now is the right time to say ‘I ain’t going nowhere’” as part of a message thanking the company for ten years.
  • Per Fightful, Balor’s current deal was going to be up in a couple months. The new one is believed to be a “multi-year, big money offer. The site also heard Balor was among the potential free agents AEW was looking to sign this year.
  • Jacob Fatu is expected to debut as a regular on WWE television soon, perhaps as early as this Friday’s SmackDown. That from PW Insider Elite.
  • It’s not surprising to hear Raw talent will be on SmackDown this week considering it’s the start of the WWE Draft, but PW Insider’s specific list of names is interesting. It includes Sami Zayn, The New Day, Sheamus, Bronson Reed, The Miz, Kayden Carter & Katana Chance.
  • Jeff Hardy has been telling people his AEW deal expires this spring, according to Fightful Select. The site notes that the general belief was AEW would extend Hardy’s contract into next year due to time missed following his latest DUI arrest and from injuries, but as of late March they had yet to do so.
  • In their report on WWE’s recent releases, PW Insider mentioned that “the running joke among a few WWE talents is that Jinder Mahal will be feuding with AEW President Tony Khan on Dynamite this summer”.
  • Also from Insider: the injury Drew McIntyre worked the WWE’s UK tour with was a “badly hyperextended elbow.” It’s believed he suffered the injury in his WrestleMania match with Seth Rollins.
  • On his Six Feet Under podcast, Undertaker may have accidentally revealed the location of WrestleMania 41, saying, “…it’s in Vegas next year…..that’s what I think, I think I heard that. Good Lord.”
  • Cody Rhodes will have a “significant cameo” in the upcoming Naked Gun remake starring Liam Neeson, says The Daily Mail.
  • TNA had “at least preliminary discussions” about bringing Tessa Blanchard back, per PW Insider. It’s not clear if the company reached out to their former World champion, just that they talked about doing so.
  • AEW superstar and icon The Blade revealed on Instagram that he’s been sidelined with a lower back injury.
