Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • According to PW Insider, Eddie Kingston’s injury is “a tibular fracture to his leg.” Eddie is “currently waiting for confirmation on how the injury will be addressed medically.” He hopes to return to AEW in time for All In: London, but that depends on whether he needs to undergo surgery or not.
  • This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter says Drew McIntyre is expected to challenge Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship at next month’s Clash at the Castle event in Glasgow, Scotland, and it “makes the most sense” for McIntyre to win the match.
  • The Observer also claims WWE knew “well in advance” about the injuries to both Bobby Lashley and Zelina Vega that caused them to be pulled from the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments.
  • In an interview with The Wrap, Emmy Award winner Paul Walter Houser said, “I’m literally talking to Mick Foley right now about the potential of playing him in a movie or limited series.”
  • While discussing his goal to wrestle more frequently, Houser also seemed open to the idea of signing a contract with TNA, AEW, or MLW.
  • Regarding this weekend’s TBS championship match between Willow Nightingale and Tam Nakano at Stardom Flashing Champions, President Taro Okada said he wanted to book the match some time after AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view, but AEW insisted that it happen now.
  • Insider mentioned that ROH Women’s World Champion Athena suffered an injury in a match against Viva Van on the ROH portion of this week’s Collision taping. After the match was over, Athena “did not put any weight on her left leg and hopped out while being assisted by the referee and another staffer.” It’s not clear yet what the exact injury is or if Athena will miss ring time as a result.
