What it would mean in either scenario, and the implications for the franchise

For the first time since you could call it the 21st century, the Detroit Lions will host a NFL playoff game. Naturally, the toughest battle might be up first. There are few teams entering the playoffs hotter than the Los Angeles Rams, who have pieced things together in a year of low expectations for the club. It’s hard to bet against the Rams, but the Lions have shown their own resilience through these games too.

On this episode of the Pride of Detroit PODcast, we’re previewing the big game and what it all means. We ask what it would mean for the franchise—and for the Lions season, 12 wins and all—if the good guys were to lose on Sunday, and how they could lose to the Los Angeles Rams. It goes without saying, there’s a lot of talk about the Rams offense. The picture on paper is pretty grim in stopping the passing attack.

But we also discuss the ways the Lions can win this game, and the puncher’s chance they’ve got and some surprising areas where you want to favor the Lions in this matchup. We also outline how, if the Lions can make it through Los Angeles, they might find the rest of the NFC playoffs to be ripe for the taking.

This is one big breakdown and we do it without falling into the big narrative trap out there. We know you’ve heard enough of it already, trust me.
