Real Madrid: an ex-coach to replace Ancelotti

on

Florentino Perez would have chosen a coach for the succession of Carlo Ancelotti. Real Madrid could register the return of one of their former technicians.

Florentino Perez President Real Madrid

Carlo Ancelotti’s position seems increasingly precarious. His team have lost their last three Clasicos against Barça and seem to be out of the fight for the La Liga title. Florentino Perez and the Real Madrid board have reportedly chosen his successor already.

Mourinho, Perez’s big favorite

According to the revelations of journalist Diego Mengual of Defense Central, the president of the Madrid club has already chosen a coach for next season. The leader would have set his sights on José Mourinho, known for his character and his ability to rebuild teams capable of winning titles. The Portuguese technician would thus find the Santiago Bernabeu, where he had officiated between 2010 and 2013. At that time, he had managed to put together a competitive team against one of the best Barça teams in history.

Although relations between Mourinho and Florentino Perez deteriorated during their first collaboration, the two parties seem ready to reconcile to start this new project. It should be noted that the coach’s contract with AS Roma runs until the summer of 2024. The Louve club will therefore have a say.

Other names are circulating to replace Carlo Ancelotti at the head of Real Madrid, such as Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Xabi Alonso or Raul Gonzalez Blanco. All seem to have the qualities required to carry out the Madrid project, but it is ultimately the name of José Mourinho who would have convinced the management of the club.

As a reminder, Jose Mourinho averaged 2.30 points per game between July 2010 and June 2013 on the Real Madrid bench. In detail, he has accumulated 127 successes, 28 draws and 23 defeats in 178 matches, in all competitions.
