My favorite moment actually involved Sean McVay. I loved him talking about the builder who builds everything as best he can and all the while he is preparing for the next project. I am not doing justice to how McVay tells it, but I loved it.

What surprised me personally is this: I knew I would love the football stuff, BUT I also really enjoyed the Stafford familyman stuff. It was just so cool to see him as as a father and husband. Obviously I root for him because of what he does on the football field and most of all the jersey he wears, however it was huamanizing to see him just being him. Tre’Davious White explains why he signed with Los Angeles Rams (sportingnews)

“In a new mock draft done by Dane Brugler of The Athletic, Los Angeles grabbed their potential quarterback of the future. Brugler has the Rams taking Bo Nix from the University of Oregon with pick No. 52 of the second round.

Nix was a Heisman Trophy finalist last season so this would be a steal of a pick if he were to fall to Los Angeles at this pick. He thrived once he got to Oregon and showed that he could be a very capable starter in college.

He threw for 4,508 yards and 45 touchdowns playing for the Ducks last season. Nix has gotten better with his reading the defense over the years as well, something that plagued him early on during his days at Auburn.”

“According to what draft experts were saying last year, one of the worst picks the Rams made was Kobie Turner in the 3rd round. This “bad pick” would have gotten more attention, but for the fact that the Rams followed it up with an even more shocking reach in the 4th round when they took Stetson Bennett.

Turner wasn’t even invited to the Combine. He and Puka Nacua were both UDFAs in Chad Reuter’s final mock draft. Ian Cummings for PFN graded Turner as an UDFA, 372nd overall. Lance Zierlein gave him a 5th to 6th round projection. Sports Illustrated gave him a 5th round grade. On the consensus board, Turner was 146th, a 5th rd prospect. In Shane Hallam’s mock, he was the 154th selection. PFF was one of the only boards high on Turner, calling him one of the most underrated players in the draft, ranking him 79th. Not only was Turner undersized, but a common critique by the experts was that he didn’t have good pass rush moves. Turner wasn’t even listed as the top DT combine snub; Karl Brooks was typically given that distinction. Brooks was a 6th rd pick and had a solid rookie season as a rotational backup, with 4 sacks. If teams had remained faithful to the consensus board, Brooks should have been drafted nearly a full round earlier than Turner.

The Rams drafted Turner at slot 89, 57 picks earlier than his consensus ranking, nearly 2 full rounds “too early”. Dalton Miller for PFN gave the selection a “C-” grade, saying that Turner was unlikely to start early in his career.

Turner was a zero-star recruit and had no FBS scholarship offers out of high school. He walked on at Richmond. After 4 years at the FCS level, he transferred to Wake Forest for 2022. In 13 games he had 38 tackles, 10 TFLs and 2 sacks. He measured 6’2 1/4’’ tall, 293 pounds, 31 3/8’’ arms, ran 4.95 seconds in the 40, 8 foot broad jump, 31 bench reps. He was a 24-year-old rookie. Old, too small, really a small-school prospect who only spent one season at the FBS level, only 2 sacks his lone year at Wake, how much could the Rams expect from Turner? Why did Snead draft him so early? There were plenty of other candidates on the board. We could have gotten DeMarvion Overshown, Darnell Washington, Ricky Stromberg, the massive DT Siaki Ika, Blake Freeland, Adetomiwa Adebawore, Dawand Jones, Colby Wooden, Isaiah McGuire or any of a number of other players.

As a rookie, Turner had 57 tackles, 9 sacks, and his 83.2 PFF overall season grade was 10th best out of 130 DTs. At the end of the regular season, Marc Ross for NFL.com named Turner the 6th best rookie in the league, higher than Will Anderson Jr. If it weren’t for historic seasons by CJ Stroud, Puka Nacua and Sam LaPorta, Turner would have finished near the very top of the list. It is only 1 season, but the surprising production from Turner and Nacua was effectively the same as if the Rams had held two top 10 picks in the 2023 draft.”
