Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 4/18/24

Hello Ramily! Today, or this evening (it’s all a bit confusing as I am techincally writing this on Wednesday) the show “Matthew Stafford: Locked In” will be televised. According to the tweet below it should be on the internet and NFL Network. I am not sure if I will watch it right away (I might) but I do absolutely plan to check that out at some point. How can a Rams’ fan not? Do you think you will be watching the Stafford show? Or do you say let’s just get to the draft already?

Please comment on whatever you’d like and thanks for checking out Turfshowtimes!

New Matthew Stafford documentary shows return and loss to Detroit Lions in playoffs (freep.com)

“In a documentary feature produced by the Los Angeles Rams titled “Matthew Stafford: Locked In,” the former Lions franchise quarterback for 12 seasons said he wasn’t expecting a warm welcome coming back to Detroit because he knew the fanbase’s passion and desire to win in the playoffs. The documentary will air on Rams’ channels and NFL Network on Thursday at 8 p.m.

“People are like, ‘Oh they are going to give you an ovation or a video on the board,’” Stafford said in the documentary. “I’m like, ‘Guys I know what I’m about to get from these people. They love their football, they love their Lions.’”

The 43-minute documentary focuses on Stafford’s life as an NFL quarterback while balancing being a father of four and a husband. It goes through Rams’ strong finish to the season, where they finished 7-1 over the last two months to secure a Wild Card spot and a chance to square off with the Lions and Jared Goff, the other quarterback involved in the trade in 2021.”

3 Bold predictions for Los Angeles Rams in 2024 NFL Draft (ramblinfan)

“But the Rams are the Rams, and GM Les Snead is Les Snead, so there’s probably at least one wild draft moment coming at some point next weekend. And while we all sit here patiently waiting for that to happen, let’s boldly predict what that draft moment may be. These are our three best guesses.

1. Trade back in the first round

Admittedly, this isn’t that bold. But the team is entering the 2024 NFL Draft with 11 draft picks. Will they want to trade back to add more to their ammo? Here’s a look at all the picks the Rams currently have as per the NFL website:

Round 1: No. 19 overall

Round 2: No. 52 overall

Round 3: No. 83 overall

Round 3: No. 99 overall (special compensatory)

Round 5: No. 154 overall

Round 5: No. 155 overall (from Pittsburgh Steelers)

Round 6: No. 196 overall

Round 6: No. 209 overall (compensatory)

Round 6: No. 213 overall (compensatory)

Round 6: No. 217 overall (compensatory)

Round 7: No. 254 overall (compensatory)”

Breaking down Rams’ picks in Dane Brugler’s 7-round mock draft, including QB Bo Nix (ramswire)

“The 2024 NFL draft is just a week away and Dane Brugler of The Athletic has put the finishing touches on his biggest mock draft of the year: a full seven-round projection, from Pick 1 to 257.

The Los Angeles Rams hold 11 picks in the draft, which is tied for the most of any team, so they have an opportunity to add plenty of young talent to their roster. They seem likely to draft a defender with their first pick at No. 19 overall, but with Les Snead and Sean McVay, nothing is off the table.

In Brugler’s mock, he has the Rams addressing the pass rush first before taking a quarterback with their second pick – a very polarizing passer who some believe could go in Round 1.”

Ramsdom Fandom: Javon Foster draft profile (By Ferragamo15 on Apr 16, 2024)

“Jackson measured 6’5 1/2’’ tall, 321 pounds, 33 7/8’’ arms, 9 1/4’’ hands, 83’’ wingspan, 5.40 seconds (40 time), 1.87 sec (10-yard split), 25’’ vertical jump and 8’7’’ broad jump. When we get to Foster’s measurements, notice how crazy slow Jackson’s 10-yard split time was at his Pro Day. If he had been at the 2024 Combine, Jackson (along with Dominick Puni at 1.86 seconds) would have had one of the slowest splits of any of the OL at the event (tied for 46th out of 51 players), a full 2-tenths of a second behind the leaders. His 40-time was so slow it would have been nearly half a second behind the fastest OL at the Combine. He also would have had one of the worst vertical jumps.

Prior to his final season in college, Jackson was projected to be a 1st or 2nd rd draft pick, but he didn’t progress as much as expected. Lance Zierlein gave him a 6th round projection, but Jackson went undrafted. LZ liked Jackson’s extensive starting experience at LT, ability to climb to the 2nd level, punch timing and recovery agility, but said his footwork was a mess, struggled vs speed and anchoring and had below average contact balance at the point-of-attack.”
