Raiders’ offense could get a big boost

Lost in the insanity that was the Las Vegas Raiders’ single-game scoring record 63-21 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15 (the Las Vegas offense accounted for 49 points), was the fact that they were playing without offensive cogs, tailback Josh Jacobs and left tackle Kolton Miller.

That appears to be not the case in the Raiders’ critical Week 16 game at AFC West-leading, the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. PT.

Wednesday, Las Vegas interim head coach Antonio Pierce said, if he was a betting man, he’d expect both Jacobs and Miller to face the Chiefs. That, of course, would be a huge boost. The 9-5 Chiefs can clinch the division with a win. The 6-8 Raiders could be eliminated from playoff contention in a formula that includes a defeat.

Jacobs hurt his quad in a Week 14 loss against Minnesota. Peirce said Wednesday that he was close to playing against the Chargers, but it was on a short week. Miller has missed four of the past five games with a shoulder injury. He re-aggravated the injury against the Chiefs in Week 12.

The other Raiders are center Andre James (ankle) and linebacker Divine Deablo (ankle) and defensive end Maxx Crosby is playing through a knee issue. We should know more about their status as the week progresses.
