on

Rafael Nadal has announced that he is back in Mallorca after completing a “great week of work” with rising French star Arthur Fils in Kuwait. Last Friday, Nadal landed in Kuwait. For a week, Nadal practiced with 19-year-old Fils, who finished as runner-up at the Next Gen ATP Finals earlier this month. Before Nadal went to Kuwait for an offseason training block, he announced that his comeback would start at the Brisbane International. The Brisbane event is kicking off on December 31st and Nadal was able to get some great work in Kuwait ahead of his long-awaited comeback. “Hi all. Back at home in Mallorca, wanted to share with you all some pictures of my stay in Kuwait these past days. Great week of work!” Nadal captioned his Instagram post.

Nadal shared major news on December 1st

On December 1st, Nadal announced he would be able to compete in Australia. “After a year of not competing, it is time to come back. It will be in Brisbane in the first week of January. See you there,” Nadal said in a video uploaded on December 1st. A few days later, Nadal uploaded another video, in which he humbly revealed that he doesn’t really have major expectations for his comeback. After a year of not playing, Nadal “just aspires” to be competitive and stay healthy. “I have finally had good training weeks at a level that allows me to have the possibility to compete again. I have gone through many phases, but today I think it’s time. I’m coming back in a tournament that I’ve played in the past, that I’m familiar with, a 250 tournament. I know it’s a difficult tournament but I hope to be ready to compete. I don’t aspire to anything else, (just) to be competitive,” Nadal said after announcing his comeback.
