The women’s 200m fly saw Ilaria Cusinato get it done for gold in a mark of 2:09.83. That represented the sole outing of the field under the 2:10 threshold, with Cusinato’s result checking the 23-year-old in as the 9th fastest performer in the world this season.

Former Northwestern swimmer and Olympic medalist Federico Burdisso took on the men’s edition of the 200m fly. Burdisso reaped gold in a result of 1:57.47 to stave off Alberto Razzetti, the 2022 European Championships bronze medalist in this event.

Razzetti touched less than half a second behind Burdisso with a mark of 1:57.82 and Giacomo Carini also landed on the podium in an effort of 1:58.03.

Burdisso doubled up with a victory in the 50m fly as well. He stopped the clock in a result of 24.07, the 2nd fastest performance of his career. He owns a PB of 23.95 from 2019’s Geneva Challenge competition.

24-year-old Olympic bronze medalist Simona Quadarella also dove in this weekend, racing in the women’s 800m free. Quadarella handled the field with ease, with her winning result of 8:22.73 beating the next-closest swimmer by over 15 seconds.

Quadarella owns the Italian national record in this event with her lifetime best of 8:14.99 logged at the 2019 World Championships. Her effort at this competition now slots Quadarella in the season’s world rankings as the 3rd swiftest performer.
