Pierre Ménès did not spare Daniel Riolo following the editorialist’s incessant criticism of Neymar.
The Neymar case divides editorialists in the media landscape. Currently injured, the Brazilian is the subject of much debate following Paris Saint-Germain’s resounding victory in the Classic, at the Stade Vélodrome, against Olympique de Marseille (3-0). Carried by a sparkling Mbappé-Messi tandem, the capital club seems to have found a suitable formula for high-intensity matches. But can this success be summed up by the absence of Neymar?
Ménès very annoyed by Riolo
Daniel Riolo did not hesitate to be very critical of the star auriverde. “In front, when there are only two left and Messi can find Mbappé, they are the boulevards there. But we don’t discover anything, the fact that the three can’t play together, we’ve always known that it doesn’t work. All the technicians say it (…) it’s as if they feel that there is an obligation (to align them), that they cannot free themselves from that (…) I do not exclude that Christophe Galtier understands it and that, even when Neymar returns, he says to him: “Sir, your place is on the bench”. Because the three cannot play together”.
A point of view that Pierre Ménès does not share at all. The former CFC columnist flew to the aid of Neymar. “I think it’s still insulting a player who has 13 goals and 10 assists since the start of the season,” Ménès said on his YouTube channel, before resuming Riolo. “What we saw in Marseille is that in high-level matches, it was better to have two in front than three. But it won’t be Neymar (who will be dismissed, editor’s note) every time, except for Riolo, but Riolo is a clinical case now, ”concluded the journalist.
