Forecasting the season now that we have the schedule in hand

Now that the draft is over, free agency has been largely settled, and we have the 2024 NFL regular season schedule in hand, we can commence with the real business of the offseason: predicting the Carolina Panthers 2024 win total.

We know the Panthers have primarily focused their efforts on improving the offensive line and wide receiver groups and streamlining the communication and coaching that Bryce Young receives. Those were three of the biggest issues the 2023 team was saddled with before they ever took a live snap.

We also suspect that the defense has taken a major step backwards, talent-wise, even though the team retained Ejiro Evero, their highly regarded defensive coordinator.

However, with all of the major changes the Panthers have under gone in just five short months, it is still difficult to say just how good or bad this team is going to be.

Further complicating that is their schedule. The NFC South makes up a little over a third of the Panthers 17-game slate. The Atlanta Falcons are in the midst of a major quarterback shake up and have a new head coach of their own. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are replacing their offensive coordinator while trusting in the success of one-year-wonder Baker Mayfield under center. The New Orleans Saints are, forever and always, the New Orleans Saints.

That’s not even getting into the beneficial placement of the Panthers bye-week, the rest advantage that gives them against the Kansas City Chiefs, their second ever international trip, or their potentially brutal December.

Mull on all that. Check out our quarterly schedule breakdown linked above. Then vote and jump into the comments to tell us which games are wins, which are losses, and why we shouldn’t even be predicting games this early in the offseason.
