Terrion’s “I’m home,” Goodell announcing Detroit’s new record, Big Gretch in Buffs — the draft had it all. What was your favorite moment?

The 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit had just about everything you could have imagined. The crowd broke the Day 1 NFL Draft attendance record two hours before the draft even started. Then, they reached capacity again on Day 2. By Day 3, Detroit shattered the previous three-day record by 175,000, which is close to what other cities posted the entire weekend.

Over the course of those three days, we saw Terrion Arnold have the warmest welcome a draft pick has ever received. We also saw Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer don the Detroit-famous Cartier Buffs glasses to announce the Lions’ fourth-round draft pick. We saw the 2024 College Football National Champion Michigan Wolverines paraded around the draft stage while a plethora of their players were drafted. It was a busy weekend from start to finish.

Question of the day: What was your favorite moment of the 2024 NFL Draft?

My answer: for me, it was Terrion Arnold taking the mic and soaking in his moment. It was so raw and you could feel the emotion, whether it was from the crowd or through your television.

“Aye I’m home man,” Arnold tells the crowd. “I’m home!”

You can hear the passion in his voice as it breaks when he repeats himself. It was just one of several heart-warming moments surrounding Arnold this weekend, including this wholesome moment with his grandfather, who he’s extremely close with and has been at his side throughout the draft process:

What really quantifies the moment for me is the sheer magnitude of Arnold’s environment. There has never been a draft crowd as big as this one, and it’ll likely be a long time before there is again. Such a large crowd, with such a passion for their football team, combined with the likelihood of their draft pick being in the green room in person is so rare. Arnold quite literally received the most warm welcome any draft pick has gotten in the history of sports. You can tell so easily he didn’t take it for granted.

All in all, it was a phenomenal weekend for Arnold, for the city of Detroit, and for everyone involved. What was your favorite moment of the 2024 NFL Draft? Let us know in the comments below.
