Notes: Lions CB Terrion Arnold gets big honor from his high school

on

Detroit Lions rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold got a huge honor from his high school this week.

He hasn’t even stepped onto the field yet, and already Detroit Lions’ rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold is winning over a lot of fans.

It began with the moment Arnold became a Lion. His reaction on the phone once he realized it was the Lions that were calling to select him with the 24th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft after trading up with the Dallas Cowboys was priceless. Then, in front of upwards of 275,000 people, he commandeered the mic from NFL Network’s Kaylee Hartung and yelled “I’m home, man. I’m home!”

This week, he was honored by his high school back in Tallahassee, Florida—John Paul II Catholic, when they retired the number 11 for good and gifted him a framed jersey for his collection. And the part that made it even cooler? The person presenting the jersey to him was none other than Arnold’s good friend, Mr. Biggs—the school’s maintenance technician.

(You may recall his story about Mr. Biggs from here.)

It’s early—and obviously Arnold’s play between the white lines is what is going to ultimately matter the most when push comes to shove—still how a player carries themselves off the field matters. Beyond the movie-like night in Detroit, it seems as though Arnold is truly an impressive human being—both on the football field and off.

And now, onto the rest of today’s notes:

(Note: Carmen knows that all four trades were up in 2024 and corrected it on Twitter. The article always had it right.)

  • Lions’ Hall of Fame wide receiver Calvin Johnson joined former NFL Player and current podcaster and host Ryan Clark on his podcast ‘The Pivot.’

  • More pictures from the Lions’ offseason workouts in Allen Park.

  • Arnold also recently received some love from Daniel Jeremiah of The NFL Network.

  • Invest in the big fellas.
