Seattle drafted for the trenches on Thursday and Friday to open the draft, and now they’ve gone back to the well on Day 3 to add depth to the offensive line.

Following months of anticipation, the first two days of the 2024 NFL Draft have come and gone. For the Seattle Seahawks, who held just a pair of picks during the first three rounds of the draft, the opening picks were used to address the trenches.

On Day 1 the Hawks added defensive tackle Byron Murphy to the defensive line, while on Day 2 they used their third-round pick to scoop up guard Christian Haynes. Both Murphy and Haynes address immediate needs for Seattle, and could easily see significant playing time as rookies as positions of weakness for the Seahawks in 2023. And 2022. And 2021. And, well, you get the point.

In contrast to the boredom of the first two days of the draft, however, the Seahawks hold five picks on Day 3, which means five more new names and faces for the roster. The picks Seattle holds Saturday include:

  • Round 4, Pick 2 (No. 102)
  • Round 4, Pick 18 (No. 118): LB Tyrice Knight, UTEP
  • Round 4, Pick 21 (No. 121): TE AJ Barner, Michigan
  • Round 5, Pick 1 (No. 136): CB Nehemiah Pritchett, Auburn
  • Round 6, Pick 3 (No. 179): T Sataoa Laumea, Utah
  • Round 6, Pick 16 (No. 192)
  • Round 6, Pick 31 (No. 207)

And the team has now used pick 179 to add Sataoa Laumea of Utah.
